June 4-10, 2006 is National Headache Awareness Week. This year’s theme is Headache Relief: 12 Tips for a Headache Free Year. While there is very good information here, the Fried Social Worker in me had to chuckle at the suggestion to “schedule a realistic day.” As an ER social worker, it’d be nice to have the ability to schedule any portion of my day!!

 

June 12-18, 2006 is National Men’s Health Week, a time to heighten awareness of prevention, early detection, and treatment of disease. Site has proclamations, posters, and suggestions for getting involved.

 

June 21, 2006 is ASK (Asking Saves Kids) Day Is there a gun where your child plays? The statistics are sobering!

 

June 27, 2006 is National HIV Testing Day. Site offers a testing day campaign kit.

 

June 25-July 1, 2006 is Deaf-Blind Awareness Week. This year’s theme is Achieving Exceptional Careers. The Helen Keller National Center For Deaf-Blind Youths and Adults offers awareness materials, including suggested activities.

 

June is also National Scleroderma Awareness Month. Site offers free general information packet.

 

June is Home Safety Month Get a home safety kit or sign up for the free webinar. Also has a nice Home Safety Guide with checklists for safety issues affecting toddlers, children, older adults, and a variety of home safety hazards.
